This article was composed by Mark Follman in the Mother Jones magazineNovember/December issue. This article takes the audience to the mind of the mass shooter. The article brings to the light how the young white men are getting into violent activities like mass shooting. It discusses how the victims of mass shooting might be mentally ill. This has been contributed by the increase of violent movies in the screens, something which might be affecting the mental affiliation of the young people.

Research too shows there is a tiny connection between watching of violent movies and shooting. The article further discusses that there is a high likelihood many of these shooters are affected by current and circumstances happening in their lives. These issues include loss of job, failure in school and life and many more.

The article talks about emulation of the mass shooters to their famous predecessors. This has been evidenced by the recent data in mass shooting. The author talks of the need for both mental experts and security agents working hand in hand to stop violence which have been on the rise recently. Towards the end of the article, the article describes the need for huge investment to stop mass shooting in the society.

                This was a research report written by both Howell and Embry. The research conducted showed a renewed national attention in rise of the consequences that come a long with gun violence in the United States. The study also comes up with conclusive report of the cost that has been incurred in the emergence department visits as well as inpatient hospital stays in the country. Gun violence in the U.S has greatly contributed to high hospital bills and injuries in the country. Some of the injuries are permanent and will leave to be seen among ourselves.

The report gives an evidence how in the year 2010 a group of young men who were low income learners had to pay high hospital bills in the hospital after being victims of a mass shooting. The report describes the hospital bills incurred as an equivalent of the Medicaid Program cost of one state.

The authors go further to give recommendation to the state government and what need to be done to stop the gun violence before it runs out of hand.one of the most recommended solutions proposed is to prevent firearm assaults in order to reduce the costs incurred by citizens in the hospitals. This book evaluates the effectiveness of the implemented gun control laws in the United States. This has been effective too in the municipalities. The author uses a variety of models including the multiple linear regression models to show the relationship that exists between the gun related deaths and state laws which govern the use of firearms.

The book study also shows that gun control laws have a great effect on the number of the gun related casualties. The author relates also firearm related deaths to social economic variables, for example the unemployment rate, the poverty level and alcohol consumption in the state.

The gun control laws, however, have been able to compact crime activities in the country. The findings realized in the book proof that the more resources spend on social programs related to the Crime Bill have greatly affected the crime incidences in the country. The findings indicate that the gun control rules have greatly helped to reduce the effects of reckless use of guns in the country.

It discusses the necessity of a well secured nation free from guns

The proponents of gun control laws shows that the second amendment of the intended militias. This will help reduce the gun violence.

                This journal shows the link between mass shooting and mental illness. It is based on assumptions that frequently arise in the aftermath of mass shooting in the U.S. the assumptions include; that mental illness is a factor that contributes to mass shooting in the U.S, that mental illness contributes to gun violence, that shooting represents the acts of the mentally ill and that psychiatric examination can predict gun crime.

The journal shows that mental illness emerges to be closely related to mass shooting incidences in the U.S and that the same reflects the cultural stereotypes and the anxieties for example, the social class and politics. All these issues discussed mental illness is connected to mass shooting and that they are a violent threat to the society. The political disclosure focusses on the impact of the mentally ill and the aftermath of mass shooting incidences. The journal further takes us to key literatures in the field of psychology and public health. Which address the connection between mental illness and gun violence.

This report written by Ted Miller gives a detailed explanation of data analysis of the costs that are incurred in every use of a firearm in the U.S. it comes up with all the costs involved including the direct costs and the indirect costs. The costs incurred in the use of firearm include the police cost which is the amount of money the police department uses to investigate the occurrence of gun-related crimes. This include costs such the police salaries, allowances and any other benefit associated with the investigation.

The report further explains other costs incurred such as the transport of equipment and victims of the shooting to the hospital. The medical cost too has been expounded on which stretches to insurance claims by Medicare, private insurance, Medicaid as well as the victims themselves. The mental health too is incurred when counselling the victims who have undergone gun violence. The legal services and adjudication is another cost which is incurred when legal services are offered to look for justice for the victims of firearm violence.

Other costs which have been described include the incarceration, work cost for victims and the perpetrators. The cost of the employer and losses in quality life are also described in the report. Generally, the journal expounds on the costs that victims, government, health sector among other departments incur when dealing with the aftermath of firearm crimes.

Nancy Scheper H. No Magic bullets: Deadly Lessons from the Sandy Hook Little Tyke Massacre.

                                The author of the article starts by describing how his plans to deliver a lecture entitled “violence in war and peace in one of the public universities in the U.S went futile. This was after a bomb scare in the university. This made the author to reschedule the lecture to another date as well as a new venue. In the new venue she was assured that she would not be inspected at all by the security who are posted in the university gates. However, the author was not satisfied with the idea and foresee a likelihood of her lecture being interrupted by violence. In the article the author brings to the audience attention of the notion that we as citizens of the U.S we don’t accept the bitter truth. The idea she is trying to put across is that the nation is all alone when it comes to tolerating any form of violence in the cities as well as in the suburbs and towns.

The author explains that there is nothing like magic bullets and that bullets come from the crooks in the society who will like to see the community is tore apart by violence. Many a times strategies have been set aside that are aimed at helping the society to identify and respond to early warning and signs of violence but people and security authorities seem to ignore the hints. This later on leads to mass violence and massacre. Towards the end of the article, the author puts across the dangers that the American face due to the unsupervised guns that are next door. The author suggests that it is important for the security agents and the government in general to protect the citizens prior to the violence which will avoid incidences of massacre.

This commentary describes the firearm violence that remains a big problem in the society. Evidence in the commentary shows that the use of guns has been involved in majority of crimes that have taken place. It links the gun user to the manufacturer. Based on multiple evidences given in the commentary, Policy initiatives that has been brought have to fight against the use of gun violently have been effective.

The study analysis is over-simplified in the commentary and it is perceived that the recommendations given might be misleading to the user. The evidence in the commentary provides a good ground for the author to make specific recommendations that require action from the highest authority level to combat gun violence. The evidence that is provided should be taken with a lot of caution in order to avoid misinterpretation of the matter in one way or another.

Garen J., Wintemute, Glenn P., David H., Daniel W. (2008). Gun Shows and Gun Violence: Fatally Flawed Study Yields Misleading Results.

This study was widely publicized but ended up being not published. It greatly emphasizes on the relationship that exists between the gun shows and gun violence. It has been discussed in the study in a manner that creates room for debate on how gun shows have greatly resulted to gun violence in the recent past. The study is believed to be fatally flawed.

The books also looks into the goodness of implementation some views from the public which will help reduce gun related crimes in the society.

This amendment is very crucial in the land because it will help to regulate the manner in which guns are used. Recently, there has been a rise in crime incidents on assault weapons. This has seen lawyers and other members of the law society fight for the amendment of the laws in the constitution which govern the Assault Weapons. This has seen the amendments of the laws in different sections of the constitution.
