brief argumentative statement, writing homework help

no more than 1.5 double space page, brief argumentative statement aimed at persuading the public to accept the author’s point of view regarding a policy issue, topic is provided'

An Op-Ed is a brief argumentative statement aimed at persuading the public to accept the author’s point of view regarding a policy issue. Opinion Editorials typically take strong positions on controversial issues of the day and urge action or adoption of a recommended position. It is a good idea to start this exercise by reading editorial columns and sampling public opinion on as many issues as possible in local and national newspapers. The next step is to select a topic about which you feel strongly enough to warrant an editorial opinion.

Please, pay attention to the following: First, be sure to make the issue real for your readers by showing in concrete terms what the issue involves. Second, it is permissible to use the first person since you are expressing your personal opinion. Third, state your opinion on the issue very clearly so your readers will have no problem knowing where you stand. Finally, you should use some evidence to support your position on the issue as it is not enough to simply offer your opinion to your readers. Toward this end, please, feel free to use evidence in the form of statistical data, historical data or moral argument to support your position or opinion. You may invent your own topic, choose or modify one from the list below (please, limit your Op-Ed essay to one double-spaced page and not more than 1.5 pages):

President Obama’s healthcare reform is good/not good for the American economy
