Relational data solution for our organization
Introduction
The current business problems that organizations face are complex and require relational data solutions. With the growing business processes and operations the needs for information are changing. New challenges have merged because of the different types of information that organizations need to store. To avoid the trouble of duplicating information in the system, a relational database will be the best solution for our organization that seems to be at crossroads on improving efficiency of information management.
Meaning of relational databases
A relational database has more than one table where different sets of data are recorded and relationships are established between the data tables. These type of database is effective for preventing duplication of data and redundancy in the databases. With the growing needs of proper information management for customers, products and employees, a relational database would be the best solution for our information management challenges (Thalheim, 2013).
How relational databases work
Data is captured in tables. For instance we can create tables for customer names, current stock, product details and staff details. Once data is captured in tables, relationships are built between the tables. For instance tables of current stock can be linked to that of product details and current orders. The tables are then stored under one database with the established relations. In case of changes in the data it is easier to access the records under the same database and effect the changes (Martinez-Cruz, Blanco&Vila, 2011).
Advantages of a relational database
Storage of data is stored in a more clear and organized way. This will create more efficiency because our staff will be able to retrieve records faster when they are needed for service delivery. This will prevent wasting of time trying to find the most current records because of the mix up and duplications that we currently face in the organization.
Relational tables are also effective for information sharing across the departments in the organization. With such capabilities of information sharing it will be faster to resolve client issues when they are presented to the staff. In the past, delays have been occasioned by the lack of relationships between the different information stored for different departments. With the new relational database solutions delays in resolving customer complains will be a thing of the past. This also means that customers will be more satisfied with the services we provide and this will have a positive impact on our image and competitiveness.
A relational database also means improved security of information in the organization. It is easier to manage organizational data under one system that is well secured instead of many files that make it difficult to manage.

Conclusion
A relational database would provide a good solution for the information management problems that we are facing. The organization will also avert a huge risk of losing information because of the current inefficient ways of managing organizational information. Given the opportunity research needs to be done in the organization in order to reveal the current and future needs of information that need to be addressed. Implementing the relational database system will provide a cost-effective way of improving and maintaining efficiency in the organization. This solution will also be in line with the strategic direction of the organization that is towards efficiency and better services to all our esteemed clients.
