Writing Assignment
 Course goals
Choose a person, idea, experience, process, job, machine, or piece of technology about which you can make a value judgment. State your judgment clearly, and justify it strongly with reasons and supporting examples. Explain the subject for readers who may be unfamiliar with it, and be sure to discuss the standards by which you are evaluating. Those criteria should sound reasonable to informed readers. In an argumentative essay such as this one, simply listing reasons for a value judgment is not enough. The evaluation should move beyond giving reasons to classifying the subject and to anticipating and satisfying readers' questions and objections.
The purpose of this writing assignment is to help writers bring together the many considerations in making a careful value judgment and justify their reasons for the evaluation.
