Global warming is one of the phenomena in change in earth climate system. The term global warming is used as the gradual increase in the temperature of earth`s atmosphere. Many scientists have studied that the climate change is a warning to cope with. Climate change refers to a change in weather pattern when the change lasts for a longer period of time.
As far as the causes of global warming are concerned, they include the energy distribution rate as received from the sun and transfer it around the globe via ocean currents and winds. Furthermore, there exist some mechanisms which affect the climate of different regions around the earth.
Factors responsible for the climate change are referred to as ‘’ forcing mechanisms‘’ which involve the processes like solar radiation change, deviation in the earth’s orbital motion, variation in the reflectivity of oceans, and very often due to concentration difference of greenhouse gas. A wide range of feedbacks have been observed aiming to intensify and lessen the initial forcing. These climate forcings face a very slow response from various parts of the climate system like oceans and ice caps. Forcing mechanism can be classified into two types; ‘’ internal forcing mechanism’’ and ‘’ external forcing mechanism’. Internal forcing mechanism consist of natural processes such as thermohaline circulation while external forcing mechanisms are natural only in the case when any change takes place in solar input . It can also be ‘’anthropogenic’’ when the emissionrate of greenhouse gasses increases.
The climate system may exhibit a fast response, for instance the reflection of sunlight in airborne volcanic ash causes sudden cooling. The response might be slow or a combination when follows the processes like thermal expansion of ocean waterand melting of sea icerespectively. It can also be noted that all these responses are independent of whether the forcing mechanism is internal or external.
On returning to the discussion of internal forcing mechanism, there are some essential constituents of climate system which seem to play a vital role. They include atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere.Any natural change in the climate system leads to ‘’climate variability’’.
DiMaggio and Powell introduced a theory about climate change that focuses on the role of social stimuli in shaping an organization`s action. But when companies adopt some kind of theory involving the perception about climate then they need to stick to the person`s idea who are you working with. That is called institutional theory. The legitimacy for this theory should contain proper research. The first and least rule for a research is to have a thesis or study about the object. If the person who is doing a research on a subject then he will first develop a hypothesis and on that hypothesis he conduct experiments and that experiments he will use in his study to improve his research. There can be different types of experiment, for example one can try to study the environment and climate issues with the inhabitant. The inhabitants are the most valuable assets to study climate.
In the movie “The day after tomorrow”, the theory used was based on the some poor research. The movie depicts Northern Hemisphere is plunged into the complete ice because of the heavy storm. And because of this weather the condition were so sewer that everything on earth going to freeze. The critics say that it was a disastrous movie about climate change. The research work was very low. The scenes and extreme climate conditions shown in movie were totally unrealistic andthey are not even an inch near true event or that could be happen. The northern Hemisphere and the area surrounding are much warmer than the countries on the same latitude.
The future prediction about climate change is that 13,000 years ago the Gulf Stream has changed and switched before off. And because of that switch Europe cooled by higher degrees in one or two decades. The disastrous movies are always has an involvement of politics. We have seen these kinds of movies in late seventies. In the movie Doctor Jack Hall, an environment scientist went to a talk and he gave a theory about climate change. He explained the world is going to face the last glacial period. He also explained the phenomena of melting the ice sheet and increase in the water level in Atlantic Ocean that will be the cause of big storm.
There are many questions about the ice age that remained unanswered during the movie. How that age fall to begin and how it hit the earth. The main source of storm was missing and where it went at the end was a complete blunder. The freezing temperature and why it happened was a complete mystery. Later in the movie a NASA scientist monitor the storm and she predicted that the storm is decreasing with the altitude of 10 degree per second and the scale in which she is measuring is not mentioned. Weather she is measuring it in Fahrenheit or Celsius scale.
The modeling of the climate condition is being easier due to super computer after the World War II. The Climate scientist and researchers performed many experiments regarding this field and they have done pretty much good research that is valid and more accurate than they used in some movies that are about climate and environment. The list of errors and untrue events that has shown in movie is unexplainable. The movie team and production department have to hair a climatologist and environmentalist who would explain these terms that have been used in the movie. The climate issues are bigger and need more and accurate research for better results.
