Fungus in the air. The air in poultry processing plant often contains fungus spores. Inadequate ventilation can affect the health of the workers; the problem is most serious during the summer. To measure the presence of spores, air samples are pumped to an agar plate, and "colony-forming units (CFUSs)" are counted after an incubation period. Here are the data from two locations in a plant that process 37,000 turkeys per day, taken on five days in the summer. The units are CFUS per cubic meter of air.Â

Perform a matched pairs t procedure on the fungus data in part 3. Use a significance level of 0.01.
Â
State: Is there evidence the Kill Room has more CFUs than the Processing room on average? That is, is the average difference greater than zero? Kill Room minus Processing.Â
Â
Plan:
a. State the null and alternative hypotheses to answer the question of interest.
Â
Â
Solve:
     b. Check conditions. Specifically, why might we be concerned to perform a t procedure?
Â
 Â
     c. Calculate the test statistic.       n = __________

Â
d. What is the p-value for the test? Is it one or two sided?
Â
Â
e. Calculate the 99% confidence interval for the average difference in CFUs.
Â
Conclude:
f. Using the results from above, what is a four part conclusion to answer the question of interest. Include context.
