Audience Analysis
In this assignment, consider the different types of tourists who visit Grand Canyon National Park. For example, there are foreigners, school groups, elderly disabled and so forth. Do an audience/visitor analysis of Grand Canyon National Park to prepare messages that encourage compliance with park policies while still encouraging use of the area. Â This can be found by doing a simple Google search or you could contact the park information office by phone or e-mail.Â
Using the information gathered from your research, you will outline in detail the differing message strategies to gain visitor compliance with park policies for a minimum of 5 different audiences.Â
Okay, after you pick your audiences do the second part below:
Write a two paragraph summary for each of your audiences (10 paragraphs minimum for the project), resistance to or receptivity to the policy, the medium and strategy and tone you will employ to meet this communication objective.
DO NOT WRITE THE MESSAGE. THE FOCUS IS ON THE AUDIENCE TYPE AND THE STRATEGY TO CRAFT THE MESSAGE.
example:
Elemenatary age children visit the park frequently and visit in organized school groups. The energy level is high and teachers may have a difficult time keeping tabs on their students and controlling them at the same time. Park rangers need to meet the group and lead them into a lecture room to provide a short briefing to the students about the ecological sensitivity of the park and why it is important to obey the instructions of their teachers and rangers.Â
Ranger badges, coloring books and other memorabilia would be an appropriate reward for good behavior and observance of park rules. Easy to understand visuals/signs along the park trails would also assist as reminders to students to observe safety rules and respect the surroundings.
