Excel Chart Practice
Open the Excel Charts spreadsheet. You will see a table with Assembly Line Defects per Date
and Line.
Select cell B6 and drag to highlight over and down to F9.
Select Column from the Chart group on the insert tab. Choose a 2D clustered column.
Now you see a nice chart showing each lines defects.
Now right click on the chart and choose Select Data.
Click switch row and column. Notice how the chart changes.
With the chart selected, click on the layout tab in the tool bar. Under the labels group click on
Chart Title and choose Above Chart.
With the chart title selected, click the formula bar and type an = sigh and click cell B4. Hit enter.
Notice the title now changes to whatever is in that cell.
Change Cell B4 to say Line Defects. Notice the chart title changes too.
Right mouse click again inside the chart and select Change Chart Type.
Select 3D Clustered Column.
Select cell B30.
Return to the insert tab and select a pie chart. You should see a blank chart.
Right click in the chart and choose Select Data
In the chart data range select C10 through F10.
Now under Horizontal Axis Labels click on Edit. Highlight C6 through F6. This should label the
pieces of our pie chart with their corresponding values.
With the chart selected, click on the layout tab in the tool bar. Under the labels group click on
Chart Title and choose Above Chart.
Click on the chart title and type to change it to Defects.
Right click on the chart area and select Move Chart. Select New Page and name it Defects. Save your work and submit using Black Board
