I need a 4 page essay that compare two story:
1- “The Birthmark” by Nathaniel Hawthorne
2- "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gillman, in 40 Short Stories
In this handout on Compare and Contrast thesis statement.
At first we have to write about two author and compare both together (attention to that both story have written in 19th century that it is The Changing Role of Women in the 19th century) and at the same time both authors are Feminist Gothic, 
Second: compare main characters (women) and then compare theit husbands.

The Birthmark vs The Yellow Wallpaper
For centuries men have dominated the world outside their home and women have had obstacles and difficulties to enter the male-dominated world that was shaped by the men ideology. In the nineteenth century, specifically at the end of that century, the weak position of women in society started to change. In the world of literature, women writers became more mainstream and their content challenged patriarchy. They raised awareness of the difficulties and needs of women in their stories, which was the beginning for cultural change and a different take on women’s role in society. The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-64) and Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman(1860 -1935) are the stories that challenged the ideology of patriarchy, as they sometimes feel heavy criticism to men and feminism attitude can be felt.
Jane and Georgiana , main characters of both the stories, are under the control of their perfectionist husbands. Men that tried to control their wives. However, there are major differences between the two women.
