The magazine/website CreativeNonFiction.org calls itself CNF. It is an awesome resource for awesome current creative nonfiction. Anthologies are filled with older works; CNF has the new stuff, and it is is full of writing tha is edge-pushing, heart-reading, and mind-boggling. [Okay, in all fairness, it also has some crap I'm not so hot on; I try and figure out why the things I don't like get published, and I think I learn a lot from that.]

Go to https://www.creativenonfiction.org/category/online-reading/essays and poke around, reading some essays. Please don't sit down and READ like this is a textbook. It's not. It's a compendium of writing to take your time with. Browse. Have a cup of coffee. Mix it up. Read stuff you wouldn't think would interest you based on the topic.

Also: once you're in the Online Reading section, there is a world of wonder on the right-hand navigation list. Interviews, most popular writing, advice, etc. I highly recommend it.

Once you've done that, write us a report of your adventures in CNF-land. Take 3 favorite/admired pieces from CNF and:

1. post a link so we can share your adventure

2. tell us what the topic is; be specific

3. tell us why you liked it -- just a quick, specific reason

4. tell us how it make you think or feel; hopefully, it did one or the other if it made your short list.
