ECE Curriculum Directions Reflection!

Jaruszewicz (2013) outlined the historical transformation of curriculum and, from this outline, you will notice that the United States continues, like all societies, to refine beliefs about best practices in education and oftentimes these topics generate conflicting viewpoints. Some evolving areas of debate in early childhood education that have been at the forefront of the curriculum development include, but are not limited to, classroom diversity, increasing classroom motivation, and kindergarten readiness. Use the instructions below to guide your writing of this journal.

• Historical Reflection: Explain your thoughts about the direction that early childhood curriculum has taken from its historic roots.
• Future Directions Reflection: Keeping current issues and the evolving areas of debate mentioned above in mind, explain the direction you envision early childhood curriculum taking in the future. Be sure to clearly explain the basis for your thinking by providing supporting evidence from the text for your ideas about how early childhood curriculum will be structured in the future.
