Assignment Instructions

Choose a social concern in your community such as homelessness, teen drinking and driving, or joblessness, and identify a nonprofit organization that is making a difference regarding this problem. Write a feature about the organization that describes who runs the organization, whom the organization serves, what the organization accomplishes and how the organization does its job. Quote both the people who are involved in the organization and the people who benefit from the services.  Provide two or three accompanying photographs and, if appropriate, charts or sidebars.

You will gather and organize information, write a draft, and review and polish your work over the next several lessons. Your final project is due on the final day of this unit. Be sure to review the Final Project Grading Rubric in course resources so you understand how your work will be evaluated.

Type your name, the date, your teacher’s name and your school name at the top of this page. Type or paste your draft into this document. Be sure that your draft is double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font and 750 words. Save the file as follows:
