Purpose: This assignment gives you an opportunity to study two different small companies that you may have an interest in developing.

 

Type of Assignment and Weight: This assignment is a skill-building activity [SBA].  The assignment itself is worth 25 points.

 

Assignment:  First, you and couple of your friends would like to start a small business.  Locate two credible articles about two different businesses. Now, that you’ve read Chapter 1,write a memo (see pp. 426-427 of your text) from you to me that answers the following questions:

 

• What are the names of the articles and the two businesses you researched?  Why these? 
• From the two, which business do you prefer more?  Why?
• From the two, which business do you prefer less?  Why?
• Summarize the key points of article regarding the business you prefer more.

  Important Note: Begin with an opening statement that establishes your purpose and previews the main points you intend to share (i.e., the answers to the four questions). Use headings for the main points. Conclude by summarizing the key points or insights of your memo. Edit and proofread before submitting.

  In addition,

   

   Limit your memo to 400 words of text (do not consider the memo format or headings
      to be text).

  Use single spacing (double spacing between paragraphs).

  
    Maintain a 1-inch margin all around.

  Use the Times New Roman 12pt. font.

  Save your file as a Word file, and name it your last name.Business Reflection (e.g. Compomizzi.Business Reflection) and submit via the Blackboard Link.
