she recognizes the fact that she is quite lonely in her life. What really was
tragic was
even on her deathbed when she did not get love from anyone around her. She describes how
there is so much deficiency of love reigning in this world and how cruel the world actually is.
One could get an idea about the sufferings of this woman fro
m the unhappiness and anxiety
that one goes through when living in a detached and lonely life. Nevertheless to comprehend
the uselessness of life the character of Shadrack, is also portrayed as a source of illustration
(Chodorow, 1978).
The jealousness of
Sula however had a negative impact on her relationship as Ajax
left her. The feeling of getting loved for the first time in her life was exquisite for Sula, but at
the same time it made her look very desperate. The love expressed in this novel is associat

with the love of motherhood that only a mom can feel for her children. For Sula her mother is
truly a very inspiring personality in her life and she makes her mother her role model and
tries to follow her footsteps. Her mother made a lot of sacrifices a
nd had to deal with a lot of
stress in life but still her love for the children did not diminish. With numerous examples
throughout the novel the love of motherhood has repeatedly been expressed again and again.
The sacrifices of parents to provide their c
hildren a quality life and their unconditional love
for their children is repeatedly shown in the novel (Sy., 2008).
