Ethical Policing week 4 discussion 1

 

Working as a police sergeant is a substantial shift from working as a police officer.  Suddenly, you are responsible not only for your work product, but also those that work for you.  The sergeant in this hasn't made the jump quite well, but it is not a lost cause.  Training and guidance may help.  The sergeant needs to set expectations and hold his subordinates accountable to them.  If he is unable to do so, perhaps supervisory work is not well-suited to his personality.  Branter-Smith offers some advice to new sergeants in this Officer.com article:  http://bit.ly/1cPUeMD
