ath to Success Paper Assignment Prompt and Expectations

This assignment will enable students to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and potential barriers or roadblocks that exist for them.

Each student must submit a type-written electronic paper to the “Path to Success Paper” dropboxin the Week 3 folder in D2L. This paper will be a two-page paper and is due no later than 11:59pmon Sunday, November 23 to the Week 5 folder.

Formatting expectations:The paper should be double spaced with 12 point font with 1 inch margins. The student’s name and class section should be on the top right of the page and nothing else. There should be no other information in the header and no title to the paper. The paper should be a full two pages in length and should be written in a paragraph format. (The text should extend from the top of page 1 to the bottom of page 2.)

The paper should follow the outline below and clearly address the following:

The student will cover each in 3 or more sentences or statements:

Identify a barrier to his or her achievement of academic or career success.

Identify one or more strategies to address the identified barrier.

Analyze the barrier and explain why and how the barrier is significant.

Outline (This is to be used as a guide. Do not divide your paper into sections I, II and III. The paper should flow.)

I. Introduction

Include the purpose of the paper as identifying a barrier

Identify at least ONE barrier to be addressed

Tell the reader why this is a significant barrier and that you are including a strategy that can or has helped you overcome this barrier

II. What is the barrier?

Give information that clearly explains to the reader what the barrier is

Consider: How do you know this is a barrier? How might this be a problem for your academic or career success?

III. What is the strategy?

How can you overcome this barrier and move to being successful? If you are addressing this barrier currently, what are you doing to overcome this barrier?

Consider: What resources do you need? Who can help you with this strategy? What can or has helped you move beyond this barrier?

IV. Conclusion

Summarize your barrier and your strategy
