Purpose of Higher Education

This essay is going to talk about the purpose of getting a higher education. The purpose ofahigher education is that your education is the most important thing that you can have.

In life, it can bring you many things like; advancement, family, stability, higher pay, and career.

Of course, in many countries, your job is already decided when you are born because of what

your parents do for a living and their stature in society. Higher education gives you job security, confidence in yourself, and the ability to support and provide for yourself, along with your children and family.

A higher education promotes growing jobs for a stronger economy, which means more work. Employment in jobs requiring education beyond getting a high school diploma will grow more rapidly than employment in jobs that do not. With the average earnings of college graduates at a level that is twice as high as that of workers with only a high school diploma, higher education is now the clearest pathway into the middle class with benefits to help support your families.  While just over half of our high school graduates in the poorest quarter of families attend college. To achieve this bold goal for college completion, ensure that America’s students and workers are determined to receive the higher education and advancement for training needed for the jobs of today and tomorrow, and provide better job security.“The higher we are placed, the more humbly we should walk.” (Marcus Tullius Cicero). The purpose ofhigher education institutions prepare thoughtful minds and committed citizens to help overcome the various challenges facing communities today. But more than just teaching students basic civics lessons, many colleges are applying their knowledge and resources to strengthen and build the communities in which they reside. Meeting the needs of communities as promised.

The purpose of having a higher education at institutions is connecting young people with caring adults, offering them safe places after school and making healthcare facilities more accessible.

Drawing upon their own knowledge and experiences, college students are teaching youth marketable skills and introducing students to career opportunities. In return, young peopleare giving back to their communities. They, too, are learningwhat it means to be responsible citizens through service-learning programs and community service projects to earn their degree. I have always believed that a proper education doesn’t just teach one how to make a living, but actually teaches one how to live instilling values, morals and civic character.

Engaging students in community services instills citizenship in a way that no classroom experience can. It ignites imaginations, engages minds, bodies and gives students a sense of pride and inspiration. This is why the purpose of higher education is very important, because proposed ways to make service as common an expectation as finishing high school. Today, my message—and proposal—to colleagues in our America’s Promise campaign is this: Don’t overlook the potential for securing work-study jobs for your communities of promise, and also get your degree.
