I. THE INTRODUCTION

      A.  Attention Getter – Draw audience into your topic using quotes, statistics, compelling

            anecdotes or a question.         

      B.  Motivation/Need-  Develop or describe some problem. Show the audience that there is a need for the speech you are giving. You want them to say to themselves, “I need to hear this,” or   “Something needs to be done about this!”

     C. Purpose Statement/Satisfaction – State your thesis. What do you want your audience to

          Do/believe? Also state what action you want your audience to take (if any).

     D. Statement of Credibility: Why should the audience listen to you?

     E.    Preview Statement: - Overview of what you will accomplish in your speech.

II.THE BODY

      A.  First point

III. THE CONCLUSION:

      A.  Summarize/Review - Restating the specific points discussed in the body of the speech and why they’re important.

      B. Visualization Tell the audience what will happen if the solution is implemented or does not take place. Be visual and detailed.

      C.  Memorable conclusion - Leave the audience with a sense of closure and motivation to think about what you’ve proposed or take action.

Persuasive Speech

The persuasive speech is your fourth and final formal presentation. For this assignment, you are expected to influence the audience to change their pattern of thinking or behavior regarding of a topic of your choice. **You are also expected to wear business casual dress attire or your uniform. This is a part of your grade.** You will be graded on the organization of your speech content, the effectiveness of your introduction and conclusion, the relationship between the body of your speech and the purpose of your speech, the counterargument presented and refuted, and your verbal and nonverbal delivery techniques. A reference page (or bibliography) with at least four sources is required. At least 4 oral citations when quoting statistics or making declarative statements are required. Visual aids are also required for this presentation.

All students will submit a typed topical outline on the designated due date. If you do not submit the outline on the date listed above DURING YOUR CLASS PERIOD, YOUR ASSIGNMENT IS LATE.
