Pestalozzi’s educational philosophy was geared toward the concept of nature (Gutek, 1995).  He believed that if human beings are given the proper care and treatment as nature, proper environment and nourishment, they will grow and blossom naturally.  He believed that the human mind operated from the same laws that govern physical nature.  Pestalozzi’s art of instruction includes identifying the human natural powers and also organization of exercises, experiences and materials to develop the natural powers. Froebel’s educational philosophy was geared toward God.  He believed that all existence originates with and is united in God which is the divine and universal being.  The text states that Froebel believed that each individual had an internal spiritual dimension and an external natural dimension.  Pestalozzi and Froebel both believed that humans develop like a seed growing in the ground, they both need proper nourishment to develop all the innate abilities they already have.  Froebel’s view on education is aligned with biblical principles because he believed that education should be passive instead of prescriptive (Gutek, 1995).  He wanted children to be able to express themselves through self-activity which stimulates the inner impulses in outward action by exhibiting natural life.
