In watching this video, I've realized that the stay at home dad relationship is needed to establish the initial connection that a mother establishes when carrying the child in a traditional environment. I think that the buying behavior of the children will not be affected in any different way, because children will continue to purchase the way that their parents do, more so how their fathers purchase as opposed to their mothers, given their role in the home. One of the negative influences would be the appeal of stay at home dad products in traditional environment. One way around that would be to cater to both men and women to gain customer loyalty. Once the brand loyalty has been established, then begin to target men directly once society becomes comfortable with the idea of the stay at home dad.
Communication is very imperative within all reference groups. Word of mouth is the quickest form of publicity and bad news travels faster than good news. With the influence social media, many companies are operating with extra damage control to ensure that they are protecting their brand. Two groups that heavily influence group communication are teenagers and millennials. They are the driving force behind social media and while many teenagers are unemployed, their heavily influence their parents consumption behavior. Millennials also drive social media and while they are new working class, their consumption/investing is all about branding. Branding can be ruined in a 140 character tweet, a bad Facebook post so much that many large corporations have a social media/ public relations team to protect their label.
