Original Case Study Assignment (90 points)
“A case study is a description of a business problem” (Granger, 1996, p. 15). During this semester, you have multiple opportunities to increase your problem solving abilities through case analyses. For this assignment, you will write an original case study by identifying a situation or problem you have encountered or have first-hand knowledge of in the apparel, home furnishings, or retail industries It must be a situation or problem about which you have enough information to write a viable case. If you do not have work experience, you may interview a person in the industry to obtain information about an experience they have had.
Cases typically include some background about the situation, the company, and the individuals involved. You may include sales goals, total sales, store layouts, advertisements, open-to-buy plans, line sheets, or other appropriate information. In addition to names, please provide titles in your case for the sake of clarity.
Plan of Action:
1. Select any of the museums/historical areas we visit. Teams can overlap in their selection.
2. Your team is writing the paper as if you were a trying to promote the museum/historical monument here in USA. This can include the museum itself, the gift shop, the on-site restaurants, audio-visuals, etc. You will need to select “one” target audience prior to going to the next step. Your target audience could be families, seniors, single travelers, etc. You need to JUSTIFY your selection with external sources.
3. Select any ONE of the area of concern based on your observation from the following:
1. Marketing – Traditional – Includes Visual Merchandising as well as traditional promotional strategies such as flyers, visitor handouts.
2. Marketing – Non-Traditional – Includes websites, social media, SEO/SEM
4. Paper written in THIRD PERSON”
5. Include visuals/graphics/video links in the appendix. – You have to include at least two different solutions.
6. A minimum of six external resources are required.
Your case must include the following: PLEASE FOLLOW THE FORMAT. This is due July 6, 2017 11:59 pm.

|
Target Audience |

|
Causes of problem: |
Employee error? Economic trends? Ethical issues? Market trends? Poor management? Others? Cultural incompatibility?- This should be based on observation and supported by external research for a better grade J 1-2 pages. Take photographs at the monument, you can also use current flyer, website etc. to show what exactly is the issue. |
|
Solution and rationale: |
State the solution for the problem and provide the rationale for the action taken, including step-by-step implementation plan – 2-3 pages. Your team needs to select at least TWO minimum ideas to implement. This should be written is a professional manner and once again external research will boost your score. Please list the implementation plan in detail.
Things that could possibly be included as a solution: (this is NOT an exhaustive list) 1. Visuals 2. Mock-ups – websites, brochures, video ads, packaging 3. Pricing chart 4. Illustration rather than actual photos of people 5. Prototype of the marketing material 6. 3-D tours 7. Surveys 8. Re-branding 9. Based on type of tourists create an itinerary 10.
