Girls can get mad and boys can cry

What I have observed over the years is a change in the socialization of boys and girls regarding the reduction of the rigidity of sex roles. At least in my circles parents seem to encourage their daughters to be able to express anger and their sons to express hurt feelings, to cry if necessary. What are your observations about this change? It didnât used to be that way.
