Introduction

Marijuana is said to be the most powerful and the most widely used illegal drug in the world at present. A survey conducted in 2007 stated that atleast 14.4 million individuals in only USA have tried marijuana at least once in past month. (Gianutsos, 2010)

Marijuana basically comes for the cannabis plant which is also used to produce hashish (hash) and hash oil. All the above mentioned forms of cannabis are capable of causing numerous mental and physical illnesses resulting in extreme dizziness and numbness and also the addiction for a reuse (Anon, 2014).

Legalization of marijuana in United States is under discussion for a long time has evolved itself into a social and a political debate now. (Leonard, 2008)states, “the role of the news media is crucial in generating and shaping public opinions on issues of critical national importance.”

 

Thesis statements

Individuals tend to becomes less supportive of legalization of marijuana as the growth mature, meaning when you enter your teen, you are attracted to stuff like that but with the passage of time as you grow old you realize that there are a lot of side effects of marijuana as compared to the benefits of it so you start to automatically move away from the view point that it should be legalized.

 

Literature Review

As per the movie (Drugpolicycentral.com, 2014) there are only a few drug as dangerous and emotionally paralyzing like marijuana. It was said to be the number one public enemy of its time which usually caused an irresponsive control over physical emotions which usually cause a trigger of violent acts and behaviors in the user’s attitudes.

            It has been proven that marijuana when used for pain relief is very effective on animal testing. (Nap.edu, 2014). It was also found that the clinical tests that were done on cannabinoids in order to monitor change in the state of pain were found more effective placebos and were found really close to codeine (Schaefer, 2008) 

It should also be brought under consideration that DEA stated in a seminar held at institute of medicine 19999 that smoking marijuana is not recommended for any purpose either be it a severe medical conditions as the governments is constantly trying to bring in better alternatives which will also be legally available at local pharmacies. (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), 2014)

Advocates in favor of medical marijuana have proposed that there are several benefits of marijuana on disorders related central nervous system (CNS) and other disorders as well. While the reliability of such claims is still not clear. The number of beneficial users on marijuana is obviously large so generally there are strong supporter for the legalization of marijuana. (Abood, Sorensen and Nephi, 2013). The patient who went through Severe pain and neurological pain connected with multiple sclerosis (MS), cancer, and illnesses associated with vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy and aids say that smoking marijuana really help them to gain the courage or strength to go through the pain caused by the above conditions. (Manag, 2009)

 

Conclusion

In a nut shell, there are many illegal users of marijuana that legalizing it or not will not make any effect on controlling the drug. As per the literature discussed above there are various benefits of medical usage of marijuana but teen agers will one way or the other find a way to use it illegally. But the only difference will come from some harsh experiences that they will learn over time and simply move away this deadly addiction. In my opinion, marijuana usage should be limited to a certain quantity on medical grounds only and it should not be available is local pharmacies either to be used by any mean by unauthorized users.
