Biblical Worldview Essay Instructions

The purpose of the assignment is to demonstrate how you are able to practice your chosen program of study in a manner consistent with a biblical worldview. The purpose is not to discuss how you will evangelize within a chosen vocation; rather, the assignment must focus on how the understanding that mankind is created in the image of God affects the way your vocation is performed. The belief that mankind is created in the image of God is foundational to the Christian faith. Also explain how this belief affects the way you interact with people within your chosen vocation.

 

For this assignment, you must write a 600–1,000-word essay addressing the following topic:

 

Assignment Requirements:

1. Explain how the word belief is essentially synonymous with the word doctrine.
2. Choose a vocation that you intend to have upon graduation, or you may discuss the perspective you have in your current employment.
3. Provide 2–3 specific examples of how the theological truth (mankind is created in the image of God) is lived out in your chosen vocation.
4. Incorporate at least 2 theological references in your paper using course resources.
5. Incorporate at least 3 relevant biblical references.
6. Write a clear introductory paragraph including the thesis statement; also, a summative, concluding paragraph must be included.
7. Use current APA, MLA, or Turabian format (whichever corresponds to your degree program).

 

Example from business: Since mankind is created in the image of God, as an accountant I should not cheat others out of money. Similarly, as an accountant, it is my responsibility to make sure that my clients’ information is correctly reflected based on the information provided to me. Therefore, if a friend who also happened to be my client asked me to misrepresent certain information so that he could avoid paying his taxes, I could not do so. (This example would be substantiated with biblical support, and be elaborated on within the essay.)
