The Manchus

The Manchus were the last steppe power to conquer and rule China. Based on your readings of Ebrey and de Bary books and our lectures, discuss what innovative measures and institutions they developed in dual government in order to administer their rule in China from 1644 to 1911. What are the strengths and drawbacks of their approach to governing China in comparison with the dual systems of governance adopted by the Khitans, and the Mongols?
