Mexican-American War

Following the Mexican-American War the Compromise of 1850 sought to solve the problems that had existed with the demise of the Missouri Compromise. huge chunks of land had recently been brought into the Union and now had to be dealt with. In the document, you just read you can see how difficult it was to come to an agreement on this set of compromises based on region and the people these different groups represented.

 

1)   How does the Compromise of 1850 represent the sectional conflicts going on at the time, particularly over the issue of slavery?

2)   How does this compare to the Missouri Compromise? 

 

3)   how do the incomplete issues of the Comp of 1850 lead into further sectional conflict that inevitably explodes in 1860?
