A hypothetical project would be performing service on a vehicle such as a tune up. This can be approached as a unique one time process that will require different services based on the vehicle’s condition. Mileage, age, model, transmission, engine types, etc. would all play a role in determining what services a vehicle requires. The services that may required for the tune up include an oil change, tire rotation/tread checks, fluid flushes, and more.External Event: This can be one of two things, either critical information or resources the project requires or information someone or something requires from the project. An example of this is could be that the vehicle has aftermarket parts on it. Not having this information could lead to ineffective service or broken parts.Error or omission in scope of product: This occurs when information or a feature is leftout of a delivered product within a project. An example for the tune up could be using re-furbished filters during changes that will not have the lifespan of brand new parts.Error or omission in scope of project: This can be something as simple as failing to deliver something promised or not delivering on time. An example would be saying the vehicle will be ready the same day but taking a week to finish the tune up.Value added change: This is an addendum to the agreed upon or proposed project scope that is added after the approval. It is an addition that adds value to the customer or recipient of the service/project. An example for a tune up could be a free car wash or autodetailing.Risk Response: Steps are taken to eliminate or reduce the occurrence of setbacks during a project. For any project this doesn't always work out and problems need to be dealt withresponsibly. For a tune up a problem could be a technician making a mistake during service. A mistake such as causing a leak by puncturing a fluid line would need to be fixed on site while limiting the cost/time impact on the customer.Saylor.org (n.d.) Chapter 7: Starting a Project in Project Management - From Simple to Complex. pages 206-241. Retrieved from: http://www.saylor.org/site/textbooks/Project%20Management%20-%20From%20Simple%20to%20Complex.pdf
