paragraph
The impact of globalization throughout generations has been a double-edged sword because it has had both positive and negative consequences. At one point, it faced great opposition and had only the support of a few pioneers. The situation, however, has changed and today, more than ever, it has become a necessity for many people and they embrace it. Societies have had many different and changing views about globalization, yet "many of the features of the current wave of globalization are similar to those prevailing before the outbreak of the first World War in 1914" (The Levin Institute). Nevertheless, comparing globalization today to what it was decades ago will show how far globalization has come due to advancements in technology. Mass media used to be limited to such media as print, radio, and television, but now it includes digital media, such as email, file transfer, and networking, especially social networking sites have a global reach. For instance, VKontakte (social media) is most popular in Eastern Europe and Russia, while Facebook is heavily concentrated in North America, Europe and Africa" (The Levin Institute). People who fear change might be frightened about using advanced technology; however, overall, social media can be a positive way to communicate with people all over the world. Mass media can make it easier for people to explore their interests, make friends, and handle businesses.Â
