If the South had won the Civil War

1) If the South had won the Civil War, would we still have slavery in America today? Why? If not, what would have brought about its downfall?

 

2) Why do you suppose there was not more interest (even among women) for women's suffrage (voting rights) in the 1830s and 1840s?

 

3) Was the Civil War avoidable? If so, what could the North or the South (or both) have done to prevent this tragedy from occurring?
