To post to this forum you must "reply" to the instructor. Â
Begin by copying the following 4 items and then paste these in your "reply" to the instructor. Â Express your thoughts about these issues. Â Give thoughtful and substantial responses.Â
-------------------------------------------------------
1) Discuss the problems posed by rapidly changing storage systems.  For example, you can easily read a book that was printed a hundred years ago, but you may not be able to access information that was stored on a 5 1/4" floppy disk. Â
2) Think of some examples of outdated storage media.  Predict which of our current storage media might soon become obsolete (for example, VCR tapes were replaced by DVDs).
3) How can individual users protect themselves against data that is lost because of outdated storage media? Â
4) What data do you have (or do you think other individuals have) that you consider important enough to be protected from being lost?
