Assignment: Interpret Terrorism Around the World

Activity Description

As a local law enforcement PROFESSIONALhttp://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png, you have been invited as a guest speaker at a local community meeting in which town residents, officials, and other law enforcement personnel may be in attendance. This will be an informational meeting in which terrorism on an international level will be a topic.

This week, you will be preparing a PowerPoint presentation for the meeting to help educate your community regarding terrorism on a global level.

Research two (2) countries that are known for supporting or turning a blind eye to terrorist activities.

Identify major economic, political and religious ideologies as well as motivations for allowing these terrorist acts.

Discuss possible reasons why these countries have targeted the United States or support terrorist organizations that do.

Provide a PowerPoint presentation to document your analysis. Make sure to answer the following questions:

  • What are the main motivations for global terrorists?
  • What tactics do they use?
  • Why is it that the United States appears to be a prime target?
  • Why must domestic law enforcement entities work together to combat terrorism?

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as “speaker notes” for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

*Support your presentation with at least 3 scholarly or PROFESSIONALhttp://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png resources.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide

*    Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style
