Question: A Southwest Airlines flight from Seattle to Denver was delayed for 4 hours September 11 after a potential threat was discovered when a passenger aboard the plane used threatening names for his Wi-Fi hot spot. – KIRO 7 Seattle. Why would the above story keep the DHS Officials Awake at Night?

Solution: Task of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is to protect America from the various security threats. Their duties are wide-ranging, but their  goal is clear - keeping America safe(About DHS ,2014).So it is quite clear in case of above story that it would keep DHS Officials Awake at Night because they considered  passenger using threatening names for Wi-Fi hot spot as a potential threat . Flight was delayed and allowed to take off after 4 hours because they would have ensured that there are no safety issues involved. After incident of 9/11, many steps have been taken to secure the nation and implementation of security policies is monitored strictly. Devoting time and putting efforts by remaining awake at night was an essential prerequisite for DHS officials to become cognizant of root cause behind the issue and accordingly take action for the security purpose.
