Using Sternberg's triangular theory from an evolutionary stand poinT

Using Sternberg's triangular  theory from an evolutionary stand point why might this be the case? What evolutionary function might being more passionate in relationships early in life and more committed to relationships later in life have? In other words a younger age relationships tend to put much more emphasis on passion and some intimacy with commitment maybe being the lowest priority. At an older age the emphasis tends to transition to commitment being first with the other two likely being secondary speak on this from the evolutionary stand point. Publicly references please
