Prompt
We see in scripture a constant discussion regarding the cleanliness and un-cleanliness of food.
Leviticus 11:4
“‘There are some that only chew the cud or only have a divided hoof, but you must not eat them. The camel, though it chews the cud, does not have a divided hoof; it is ceremonially unclean for you.
Romans 14:20
Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble
Do some biblical and scientific research. Are there some foods that we should not eat? Is it a sin to eat these foods? There appears to be a shift from Old Testament thinking about the cleanliness of food and New Testament thinking. What caused the shift? Why do we see a difference?
Read the prompt and reflect on it. Then write out your reflection. Each reflection should be about a page long and should include biblical and scientific references as well as personal reflection.Â
