2. There are many current issues in the field of HR including: Drug testing, Honesty testing, Whistle blowing, Employee monitoring/workplace security, legislating love, and sexual orientation rights. Choose any two of these OR choose any two current issues that you see as critical for HR departments to be addressing in our contemporary work environment.

a) Describe the issue

b) Explain in detail why it is a critical issue

c)How best HR departments should handle these issues (include various HR functions in part c).

3. How would you describe the difference between the current state/role of HR in the workplace TODAY, as contrasted with the projected role of HR in the workplace 5-10 years from now?

4. One theme that we’ve addressed throughout the semester is the theme of “consequences”. When HR acts or fails to act - there are consequences for the organization. Choose one of the content areas listed below and describe the consequences to the organization for a) acting proactively and successfully, and b) acting re-actively or unsuccessfully. Choose one of these content areas: recruitment/selection, legal issues, training/development, or career management. Be specific.

5. Take all the functions of HR (selection, training etc.) and relate each of them to the performance appraisal. In other words – how does one aspect of HR – the performance appraisal – affect (and are affected by) all parts of the organization. You can approach this from the perspective of a poorly and/or positively implemented performance appraisal.
