Sem 5 and Sem 6 Discussion Question

Sem 5 and Sem 6 Discussion Questions - mgt

Sem5

  1. 1. What aspects of organizational culture impact sustainable change (Step 7, Don't Let Up)? What are some strategies to institutionalize to ensure the organization does not go back to the old way? Refer to the Strategies used in the stories shared in Step 7 of Kotter's book.
  2. 2. You are a consultant called in to provide recommendations to the CEO of XYZ Corporation. A change effort has been underway for one year. The CEO observes that some of the managers in the company are losing enthusiasm for the change effort. They think they are successful because they've achieved some short term gains. They seem to have a business as usual approach and have lost their sight on the long term gains. What recommendations would you make to the CEO?
  3. 3. What are the key concepts you can take from Kanter's message and apply to your life both personal and professional?

  •     b. provide examples.
  • 2. Based on your web Search for "Making Change Stick," what are the key elements that make behaviors stick in an organization? Be sure to cite your research sources.
  • 3. The Boss Went to Switzerland - There are four parts to this question.
  •    a. what strategies can be put in place to ensure that the intended behavior is sticking?
  •    b. how does a goverance model reinforce the principle of the vision?
  •    c. what can be done to keep old behavior from creeping back?
  •    d. what can be done to ensure that guiding teams model the new behavior and reinforce and recognize others?
  • 4. Review the video, "Who Moved my Cheese". Who Moved My Cheese, is a story about change, where cheese is whatever you want (at work or in life) and the maze is where you look for it. This story has four characters - two mice and two little people that represent all of use regardless of our age, gender, race or nationality - as we all share something in common ... a need to find out way in the maze and succeed in changing times.
  •    a. How do the characters represent change in your life?   b. What happened when you've had your cheese moved? How did you respond?
