You have just graduated and started a new job at Borhill Elementary Public School. Borhill Elementary is a small school, located in a rural town. You are excited because the town is similar to the place you grew up in, and you're looking forward to the many opportunities and experiences that "small-town" life has to offer. You admit that you're a bit nervous though about starting your new position: you were assigned to a class of Grades 4 through 7 students. You're thinking "Ok-not so unusual; it's a small school in a rural area." At the same time, you need to develop your lessons, and right now you're trying to come up with some lesson plans for various academic subjects! Questions 1. Choose an academic subject (e.g., science, language arts). Develop a lesson plan for 4th grade students and a lesson plan for 7th grade students on a topic that you will teach in the subject you chose. The topic for the 4th graders and 7th graders should be the same. For example, if you build a lesson on butterflies for 4th grade students, you need to develop a lesson on the same topic for 7th grade students. Use an adaptive teaching approach in the development of your lessons. Include the following: ï‚· lesson goals/objectives ï‚· instructional model (e.g., direct instruction, guided discovery) ï‚· strategies to support student learning (e.g., motivation enhancements) 2. Outline how you will assess the lessons for the 4th graders and the 7th graders.Â
