Why are so many working folks in America

1) Why are so many working folks in America struggling to make ends meet even though they work full time and sometimes more than full time (multiple jobs, longer hours, etc)?

2) How are the findings of some scholars challenging the notion that people are lower class or poor because they are lazy, don't care and are unwilling to work?

3) Some people might suggest that if you are making low wages then you should get our there and get your education, and then a better job. What might be a problem with this suggestion?

4) What macro or structural changes do you think will benefit working-poor people at the lower end of the social class ladder including the "much squeezed" middle class to feel like the American Dream is not eroding? Be specific.
