There are different variations of the training process or training

There are different variations of the training process or training steps presented within different contexts and based on different schools of thought, however, all follow a similar path from start to finish. Chapter 1 of your text presents nine steps in the training process, which is a more detailed account of the process than other four or five step models.

In the following video, a professor at Indiana University Southeast breaks the training process down into five steps. These five steps in the training process, which are often referred to by the interchangeable terms below, are:

  1. Needs Assessment or Needs Analysis
  2. Design or Development
  3. Validation or Quality Control or Quality Assurance
  4. Delivery or Implementation
  5. Evaluation or Assessment

Watch this Indiana University Southeast video on Human Resource Management: Training and Development then respond to the questions below.

  1. Describe the five steps of training as discussed in the video?
  2. Which of the training steps is emphasized most at your place of employment? Which step is emphasized the least at your place of employment?
  3. If you could improve the training and development at your place of employment, what improvement would you make? Why?
