Describe a family or work situation in which you were motivated by compliance rather than conformity, and discuss how the situation affected you at different stages within that group, was there group influence on your behavior? Why or why not, explain and expand.

 

• Social psychologists focus on four strategies; contact, cooperation, communication, and conciliation (Myers, 2010). How do you see ethics playing a role as to how one might avoid persuasion or obedience? Explain and expand.

 

 

 

• Have you ever known someone you did not like or care for, however after spending some time with them you realize you had things in common, may be they had some personal trials or tribulations that you could connect with? Some argue that what we don't like in others is a personal flaw that we ourselves have. You cannot see in someone else, that which is not in yourself. Do you agree? What are your thoughts? Explain.

 

 

• Differentiate between the related processes of obedience, compliance, norm formation, groupthink, and conformity.
