Case Analysis
Â
You tasks is to read and discuss the case and then write a 5-12 page analysis (double-spaced, 12-point font) that draws on the concepts covered in class (you may exceed this page limit if necessary). The case is worth 100 points.
Part I
Analyze the current HR practices used for the foreman position at the Lima plant including: recruiting, selection, training, performance management, and compensation. This analysis should include:
1) A description of the types of practices being used in each of the aforementioned HR functions. For example, does the plant use internal or external recruiting? Which specific methods of internal or external recruiting does it use? Be specific when describing their current practices and use the terms we discussed in class versus simply repeating back what the practice is called or described as in the case.
2) A discussion of the pros and cons of each of these HR practices. That is, what is good or bad about each of the HR practices currently being used?
Part II
Â
Make suggestions about how the Lima plant can address its HR problems. Specifically, what HR practices do you recommend the plant use in order to address the foremen’s morale and turnover issues? In other words, what changes would you make to the plant’s current HR practices? Be sure to offer recommendations for the HR practices you identified as having a lot of problems. However, your advice should also include HR practices outside the ones previously listed.
