1. I believe this method would be appropriate for a scholarly literature review. By using prestigious research journals you are ensuring that the information you are collecting is from research that was conducted in an ethical and credible matter. Â
Time would be the most important thing gained from shortening this list. By removing articles you, obviously, have less information to go through. Credibility would also be something you had to worry less about. In regards to the articles not published in prestigious research journals you would have to verify the source and ensure the data and research method where not fabricated. Variety and objective are things that I would worry about losing by removing the other articles. Perhaps the research team writing the articles you are left with are intent on proving another research team right or wrong, or they are taking what research one team is doing and trying to do it better. As human beings it is hard to set aside impartiality and feelings. By having outside resources you can get a perspective from people who might not have even been aware of the research in these prestigious journals. The information might be more accurate because they didn't have to follow specific design, they just went out and found average people and collected data in the "real world". It could also bring to light variables that others did not see.Â
Â
          2. The first thing I would ask myself is why did this person rely so much on others information instead of conducting some of the research himself? Are all of these sources reliable and is there a reason he used so many? Did he use so many because research on this topic is very obscure and if so why? By using so many different sources is there going to be too much data in the review? I should probably look up some of these web addresses to determine if I should discard this review or use it.Â

3. Choosing the appropriate design for what you are researching is the first problem I think of. For example; you need to ensure you know if your research is going to be more quantitative or qualitative, or even both. How are you going to obtain this data? By sitting down and completing your research proposal you can lay out step by step what you will be doing, hopefully working out any kinks you discover. This will give you an idea of what actions you need to take to obtain your data and if you will use numbers or words to show this. Â
However, I think the first thing you would need to figure out would be the measurement. This I believe could be figured out when you identify the problem. By knowing what it is you are researching you should be able to know if it was a nominal or ordinal scale. After you break it down into subproblems when writing your research proposal, you would then have a better understanding of what it is you would be doing and a more in-depth problem to research which would let you know if you would be using interval or ratio scale.Â
