Using the Kaplan library or another source of academic or scholarly works, find a research article that uses animals as subjects. Discuss the method used in the study and whether or not it resulted in any harm to the animals. Were the findings, in your opinion, worth the potential or actual harm done to the animals? Would your feelings be different if it were a different type of animal? If, for example, a study that used cats used mice or rats instead? What if the study used monkeys or chimpanzees? Do you think that the nature of the animal subject (its species and basic appeal to humans) influences the ethical value judgment people make about such research? Should it?
