Paper 2 or Presentation – Course Requirement
Option 1: Paper 2 (10-12 pages in length) – Due end of 3-12-16 – “Organization Diagnosis and Change”
This paper is on the organization change process. Select a substantial change effort that you are involved in currently, have experienced recently, or, use a well-documented description of a change effort that you found in business or professional literature, and analyze it. Your paper must include the following:
1. A description of the organization, the situation it is in, and what is prompting the change. Describe your role, for example, participant in, consultant on, or manager or leader of the change; or if you are using a case from the literature.
2. Use the Burke-Litwin model, as fully as possible, to describe the future state of the change. For example, what will be the new structure, expectations of leadership, organization culture, performance expectations, etc.?
3. Analyze the change process using Kotter’s eight steps. Describe what the organization did or did not do for each step and how well you think each step was accomplished.
4. Your perspective on the success of the overall change effort, describing why and what could have been differently to increase the success of the change.
