Which motivation theory goes in which category?

In how many categories can all the motivation theories be divided? Which motivation theory goes in which category? 

Is it correct to divide them into NEED based and COGNITIVE based theories? And what about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation theory? Where does that one go?
