here is some notes about the stops :

 

Sugarloaf

..slope movement, trees

....banjo root, stretched out

..arkose conglomerate, no basalt

Weathered arkose conglomerate, landslide across road

Road, dip caused by terrace deposit

Darker soil in fields caused by ground water differences as a result of ground material, caused by 

Lake levels different as a result of isostatic rebound

 

Stop and shop

Arkose conglomerate, scraping in one direction (sw)

Different than scraping at holyoke range (s) because of Connecticut river

Ice followed river/valley profile

Stratigraphy, conglomerate sandstone and basalt layers (bottom up). 

Weathering and bedding layers

 

Barton cove

Plunge pools created by waterfall going over top of hillside, very deep and also undercut

Delta deposit blocked off side of river until it was overtopped

Now cove is protected from river flow
