You are the only mid-level manager in a mid-sized retail company. You are currently a finalist being recruited to fill a senior management position with another retail company in a different industry. You have confided this information to your closest peer within your company, a man named "Jack". Jack has offered to give a reference for you and has always been a close political ally within the organization.
