Directions

Assume that you own an ocean-front hotel on the shores of Florida. In the summer, many tourists are bit by sharks that swim in the shallow waters of the ocean. The local news stations have highlighted a recent decrease in shark bites, however, more than 100 tourists per summer are still bit. Write a 2-3 sentence answer for each of the following questions.

  1. Are you legally responsible for the shark bites suffered by your hotel guests? Explain.
  2. What legal duty, if any, do you have to warn your guests about the dangers of swimming in the ocean? Explain.
  3. Write an example of a warning that you might give your guests that meets any legal duty you might have while not unnecessarily scaring away your customers.
