Personnel psychology, a specialty area of I/O psychology, is concerned with the creation, care, and maintenance of a workforce. I/O psychologists who specialize in personnel psychology are involved in several activities, such as employee recruitment and selection, the measurement of employee performance, the development of employee training programs, and the formulation of criteria for promotion, firing, and disciplinary action. Job analysis is a foundational exercise in Personnel psychology. There are two approaches to job analysis, including the job-oriented approach and the person-oriented approach. The job-oriented approach involves the systematic study of a job's tasks, duties, and responsibilities. The person-oriented approach analyzes the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other personal characteristics (KSAOs) necessary to perform the job. Your Portfolio Project will combine elements of both approaches to provide you with a clearer understanding of your own projected career path. The job analysis report, which is the important starting point for many personnel functions, yields several products. A job description is a detailed accounting of job tasks, procedures, responsibilities, and output. A job specification consists of information about the physical, educational, and experiential qualities required to perform the job. A job evaluation is an assessment of the relative value of jobs for Determining compensation. These 3 common elements will constitute “Part 1 ” of your job analysis report. In addition to these three common elements of a job analysis report, your Portfolio project will also challenge you to conduct additional research to explore three (3) other psychological issues relevant to your specific career path, including leadership theory, stressors and coping mechanisms, and networking activities associated with your career. This will constitute “Part 2” of your job analysis report. Introduction Introduce job analysis and selected career for analysis . 2.Briefly preview main points of Parts 1 and 2 .
