This is our LAST Assignment, Assignment #12 for Chapters 17 and 18, What Will I Be Like When I Am 80? Everyone has TWO WEEKS to complete this assignment. It's due Sunday, April 23rd.
Â
This is what’s described as a Projective/Future Autobiography.
Â
We’re now covering Late Adulthood, one of the LAST stages of development, and for this assignment what I'd like you to do is write a Projective/Future Autobiography. And because I'm giving you TWO WEEKS to work on this I want it to be of GOOD quality. It should be at least a page in length, well written, and organized, and without spelling errors.Â
Â
A Projective/Future Autobiography is a description of what you think you’re life will be like in the future, and for this assignment what your life will be like when you’re 80 years old.
Â
Take some time to think about how you aged. What path did your life take? What was your professional life like? Did you have any health problems, and are they chronic? Are or were you married? Do you have Children? Grandchildren? Try to consider all of the factors that may affect your experience of aging and then describe what your life is like? Include in this description your physical health, your activities, what's keeping you going and healthy in your life, your family and other relationships, and your day-to-day activities. You also might wish to indicate whether any old person that you know now served as your role model (whether positive or negative) as you pondered this self-portrait.
Â
The feedback I've received over the years has been that this activity serves as a good introduction to aging issues and makes many of the concepts we’ve touched upon more personal in nature. Also, I encourage you to consider ways in which you can increase your chances of still being healthy and functioning at 80.Â
